A masterful and rare basket made of wide bands of flattened natural-colored broad mosoudake bamboo by Yagisawa Keizo. Yagisawa was from Tochigi Prefecture, just north and east of Tokyo, home also to the Iizuka family. Iizuka Rokansai (1890-1959) especially defined the use of such wide bands in fine bamboo, transforming mid-century basketry into modern sculptue.
